U.S. Stocks Edge Higher After Turbulent Session
Fed Chairman Powell plans to suggest Congress would need to spend more to shore up struggling parts of the economy
U.S. stock edged higher Tuesday, steadying after a bout of volatility that tested investors’ confidence in the market’s monthslong rebound.
The S&P 500 rose 0.1%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.2%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average swung between small gains and losses. The rebound comes one day after equities retreated sharply, pushing the S&P 500 to a fourth-straight day of losses, the longest losing streak for the broad gauge since late February.
